Women of the Bible: Resources for Further Study

Studying Scripture is always the best place to start, but sometimes a little extra context from scholars can deepen what you're learning. The books below are written for adult readers (not intended to be read aloud to your kids) but they're a great next step if a woman from the flashcard set left you wanting to know more.

• Redeeming Eden by Ingrid Faro - A great book to start, looking at the stories of many women in the Bible.
• A Woman's Place is in the Story: Seeing Women in the Biblical Narrative by Sandra L. Glahn - Encourages us to notice where women are named and not named, and what that communicates. This book looks at many stories of women in the Bible, many that have often been misunderstood.

• Women and the Gender of God by Amy Peeler - The title explains the content. This book explores women as reflections of God.

• The Mary We Forgot by Jennifer Powell McNutt - Examines what we know about Mary Magdalene from Scripture, and considers church history as well.
• Tell Her Story by Nijay Gupta - Examines stories of women in both the Old and New Testament.
• Blue Parakeet: Rethinking How You Read the Bible by Scot McKnight - Includes sections on women in Scripture.

Whether you dive into one of these or simply return to Scripture with fresh eyes, we hope the Forgotten & Misunderstood Women of the Bible flashcards are just the beginning. If you haven't grabbed your set yet, it's not too late! And we'd love to hear from you! Which woman's story surprised you most?
